- warfare: A form of warfare in which opposing armies fight each other from trenches dug in the battlefield. , Fighting with trenches, mines, and barbed wire. Horrible living conditions, great slaughter, no gains, stalemate, used in WWI.
- machines: organizations whose main goals were the rewards money, influence, prestige of getting and keeping power
