Anatomy of a Computer
Across
- 3. Stands for Basic Input/Output System. It is the OS built into the motherboard.
- 6. This port houses your graphics card.
- 8. Most modern motherboards have these integrated now, but before you'd need one of these for audio.
- 9. The brain of the computer. All instructions get sent through this.
- 11. These ports were created before USB, and can transfer data as fast as 400Mbps.
- 13. These ports are much slower than the newer ports. They were the original ones for keyboards and mice.
Down
- 1. Many modern peripherals, such as keyboards, mice, printers use this port to connect to the computer.
- 2. A large PCB board that houses all main components of a computer, and directs data around to all components.
- 4. The memory sticks on your motherboard. When these get filled up, the data gets sent to your hard drive.
- 5. This directs power through the computer.
- 7. Although many modern peripherals don't use this anymore, these green and purple ports were used before.
- 10. Many older printers and scanners used this port.
- 12. Lets peripherals connect quickly with the computer. It's a slot on the motherboard.
