- 8. More stylized works in letter format; "circular letters" intended for broader audiences. This genre is found in 1 & 2 Peter. Now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. (1 peter 2:3) Believe in the Lord now that you know that he was good.

A partial narrative account about the beginnings and the growth of early Christianity; not a complete history of the early Church, since it focuses only on the actions of a few missionary leaders. This genre is found in Acts. After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. (Acts 1:9) Jesus was risen into Heaven.
- 13. Collections of laws and instructions by which the people are to live. This genre is found in Leviticus, parts of Exodus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. "Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD." (Leviticus 19:28) Respect your bodies and do not deface them.
- 14. Generalized sayings and aphorisms containing advice on how to live well: "do good and avoid evil" This genre is found in Proverbs. Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. (Proverbs 22:6) If a child starts off on the right path he will succeed in life.
- 15. Proclamations of the "good news" about Jesus intended to establish and/or strengthen people's faith in him; quasi-biographical, semi-historical portraits of the life, teachings, and actions of Jesus. This genre is found in Mark, Matt, Luke, and John. He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." (Mark 16:15) We are called to spread the Word of God to all of creation.
- 16. Lists of inter-relationships between peoples, either of successive generations or of different nations. This genre is found in parts of Genesis and much of Numbers. "The LORD bless you and keep you" (Numbers 6:24) The Lord is always watching all over you and loves you.
- 18. A vividly symbolic narrative that "reveals" God's views about a historical crisis, in order to provide encouragement for a difficult present and hope for a better future. This genre is found in Revelations. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with them, and they with me. (Revelation 3:20) Accept God into your heart.
- 19. Semi-historical narrative accounts of select events in a nation's life, focusing especially upon political and military exploits of its leaders, since usually written under royal sponsorship. This genre is found in Joshua, Judges, 1 & 2 Samuel, 1 & 2 Kings. As for Jezebel, dogs will devour her on the plot of ground at Jezreel, and no one will bury her." Then he opened the door and ran." This genre is found in Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. (Isaiah 53:4) Jesus chose to die for our sins and was not forced to by God.
