- 6. APPLICATION informally called the Common App, makes it possible for students to fill out one admissions application online that can be used to apply to any of 1024 member colleges/universities. There is one for First-Year Admission and Transfer Admission.
- 7. CLASSES. Honors classes offer the same material as a regular class in greater depth and at a faster pace.
- 9. Anything a student does that is not a high school course or paid employment. Most community and family activities are also extracurricular.

- 1. A student who attends or hopes to attend a college or university in a different state than their permanent residence. Tuition is higher for out-of-state students.

- 14. A two-hour-and-55-minute exam that covers the four key subject areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science reasoning. It tests a student’s knowledge and achievement, determining their readiness for college-level instruction. There is also an optional written essay. The ACT is scored on a scale of 1 to 36 for each area and scores are averaged to create a Composite Score.
