Components of Fitness
Across
- 4. The relative ratio of fat mass to fat-free mass (vital organs, muscle, bone)in the body.
- 6. The ability to change the position of the body quickly and with control.
- 8. The time between the presentation of a stimulus and the onset of a movement.
- 9. How quickly an individual can move; measured in metres per second (m/s).
- 10. The ability of the muscular system to work efficiently; where a voluntary muscle can repeatedly contract against a light to moderate fixed resistance without fatigue.
- 11. The ability to use two or more body parts together.
Down
- 1. The ability of the cardiorespiratory system to work efficiently, supplying nutrients and oxygen to working muscles during sustained physical activity.
- 2. The maximum force (in kg or N) that can be generated by a muscle or muscle group against a resistance.
- 3. The ability to use strength at speed. This helps athletes to jump high, throw far or sprint quickly. Power = Strength x Speed.
- 5. The ability to move a joint fluidly through its complete range of movement.
- 7. The ability to retain the centre of mass above the base of support when stationary (static balance) or moving (dynamic balance).
