Contra Indications to Waxing

- 1. raised lumps of skin that are black or brown in colour. If they have hairs growing out of them you must not wax or pluck them as doing so could stimulate cancerous cells to grow
- 4. This condition results in the client having a thin epidermis, so the skin has a slower healing process. A skin sensitivity test can be done to see if the client is able to have waxing
- 7. Red, raised, pus filled and painful lump that appears around the hair follicle, usually caused by the follicle becoming infected.
- 8. Inflammation of the skin, skin becomes red, swollen and itchy. Usually caused by an allergic reaction to a product eg detergents
- 10. ................ Veins- These appear blue/purple in colour and are raised. Can be very painful. You must get a doctors note before treating a client who has this
- 11. a skin condition very common in teenage years, however, can also occur in adults. Inflamed skin, pus filled spots and open pores and common signs of this. Most commonly found on the face and the back

- 2. Redness, swelling, itchy and dryness of the skin. Similar to dermatitis. Usually caused by an internal or external irritant
- 3. Very common in the hair line and scalp but can be found on other areas of the body. Redness, silvery scaly skin. Can be itchy. Usually caused by stress
- 5. ........ tag- small flesh coloured or brown growth that hang off the skin. These are harmless and are most common on the neck or underarms. Usually caused by the skin rubbing against clothing too much. You must work around this and apply petroleum jelly as they can be easily pulled off by the wax!
- 6. rash this type of rash will appear as an area of redness with small red lumps. Adding extra heat from the wax to this will irritate it further
- 7. this is purple/red in colour and should be covered with petroleum jelly and worked around during a waxing treatment
- 9. a raised growth on the skin that has a rough surface and usually appears grey or yellow in colour. These are contagious and must be covered with a plaster and avoided completely during treatment
