- 4. first detected in New York USA on November 2020 and is also known as linage B.1.526 was responsible for a late fall surge in New York. By early 2021 it has spread to other parts of the US but soon got replaced by Alpha.
- 8. first detected in South Africa on October 2020 and was known for younger people sicker requiring hospitalization
- 9. first detected in Rio de Janerio and is also known as sub-linage B.1.1.28. This variant I hasn’t spread globally and could have possibly been outcompeted by other common variants.
- 10. first detected in the Philippines on February 2021 and is also known as linage P.3 this variant is not related to ones found earlier and may have been outcompeted by other common variants because it never spread to other countries.
- 12. first detected in Brazil on january 2021 and was known for being able to re-infect people who had recovered from COVID-19

This variant may be able to evade the sinopharm vaccines which were the ones South America used however the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines can protect against this variant

(while this strain has yet to earn a Greek name it might be named Mu which is the next letter after lambda) first detected in Columbia and is also commonly known as linage B.1.621. cause a huge outbreak in Columbia in mid-spring 2021 and as of August 2021 several cases have been found in Florida which most of them were linked to travel. It is not yet listed as a VOI or VOC by the WHO.
