Extreme Weather

1. A powerful fire that burns out of control across a large area.
7. Water that has frozen and become solid, or pieces of this.
8. A violent wind that has a circular movement, especially in the West Atlantic Ocean.
9. A large amount of water covering an area that is usually dry.
12. A large amount of ice, snow, and rock falling quickly down the side of a mountain.
13. A series of large ocean waves caused by under water earthquakes or volcanic eruptions.
14. A rapidly rotating column of air extending from a thunderstorm to the ground. It forms over land.

2. A movement of rocks and soil down a mountain or hill.
3. The thin, white layer of ice that forms when the air temperature is below the freezing point of water, especially outside at night.
4. A storm characterized by thunder, lightning and heavy rain.
5. A severe snow storm with strong winds.
6. A period of time such as a few weeks when the weather is much hotter than usual.
10. A long period when there is little or no rain.
11. Small, hard balls of ice that fall from the sky like rain.
