I KNOW CRITICAL MATH TERMS FOR 7TH GRADE
Across
- 1. value: a number’s distance from zero on a number line. Absolute value is never negative.
- 5. fraction: A fraction in which the numerator is equal to or greater than the denominator
- 7. property: multiplying each term in a sum or difference by a common factor does not change the change the value of the expression.
- 11. numbers: are the same distance from zero but in opposite directions.
- 12. a letter that represents an unknown number (or more than one number).
- 15. the result of subtraction.
- 16. an expression with a base and an exponent.
- 17. number: include decimals and fractions.
- 18. the product of a given number and any other whole number.
- 19. the product of a given number and any other whole number.
- 21. numbers: are less than zero; located to the left or below zero on a number line.
- 24. separates a whole from fractional place values (tenths, hundredths, etc.)
- 25. in a power, the number that shows how many times the base is used as a factor.
- 26. the result of multiplication.
- 28. a mathematical statement that uses an equal sign (=) to show that two expressions have the same value.
- 29. a group of numbers, variables, and/or operation symbols that represent a mathematical relationship.
- 31. names equal parts as a whole; can also represent the division of two numbers.
- 32. between two numbers tells how far apart the numbers are, without regard to direction. Distance is always positive.
Down
- 2. decimals: decimals that end.
- 3. the number by which another number is divided.
- 4. the number that is divided by another number.
- 6. pair: two numbers whose sum is less than zero. Opposite numbers form this.
- 8. are whole numbers and their opposites.
- 9. the result of division.
- 10. numbers: include counting numbers, their additive inverse and zero.
- 13. decimals: decimals that repeat the same sequence of digits forever. Can be written with a bar overhead.
- 14. the number below the fraction line that tells the number of equal parts in the whole.
- 20. also called the multiplicative inverse of that number. Zero does not have this.
- 22. the result of addition.
- 23. numbers: are greater than zero; located to the right, or above, zero on a number line.
- 27. the number above the fraction line that tells the number of equal parts being described.
- 30. number: a number with a whole number part and a fractional part.
