Macbeth Act 1
Across
- 5. We are the weird sisters. Average women we are not, fortune-tellers we are not. Skinny lipped and choppy fingered we are, deceivers we are.
- 6. I am the witches’ predictions. I predict the futures of both Macbeth and Banquo.
- 8. I am the home of Glamis. I sit upon the throat of the world. My aura is pleasant, nimbly and sweet. I am the resting place of kings.
- 10. I am the deepest of desires. I am the unspeakable crimes. No one dares utter my name while in the presence of the king. I am the common grounds which connects Macbeth to Macdonald.
- 11. I defeated the Norwegians and their traitorous allies. I am the slayer of the traitor Macdonald. My actions of valor and bravery have given me many titles. Many call me general, hero, Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor, and soon king of Scotland.
Down
- 1. I am Duncan’s general and thane. I was beside Macbeth during the war against the Norwegians. He and I splattered the ground with traitor’s blood as they surrounded us. He and I ended the war.
- 2. I am the ruler of my kin’s land. My home resides in Duncaning castle the heart of Scotland. I am father to both Malcolm and Donalbain. My greatest champion and loyal thane Macbeth is connected to my bloodline.
- 3. I am the wife of Glamis. The news of these predictions sparks interest from within me. Some would call my deepest desires ambitions, and others would call them heinous crimes. If only I were freed from my womanly possessions. Only then could I fully express my true self and act upon my desires.
- 4. I am true, yet I am false. I am an innocent flower, with a serpent underneath.
- 7. The Norwegian soldiers hail to me. Scottish soldiers have defected under my rule. Scotland will be under my rule whether all its thanes agree with me or not.
- 9. I am the backdrop which sets the scene for the entire play. I am the literal grounds which the play takes place. I am the kingdom of Cumberland, the kingdom of Glamis, the kingdom of Ross, and the kingdom of Cawdor. I am all of these and yet I am named none of them. They are a part of a larger collective which is me.
