- 1. Alexander Murray Palmer Haley, was a celebrated author whose books centered around African American heritage. His enormous hard work paid off when his book “Roots” was published in 1976 and became a massive hit.
- 3. Most Historically Black Colleges and Universities were established in the South after the American Civil War, often with the assistance of religious missionary organizations based in the northern United States.
