Module 5 Vocabulary
Across
- 6. A ratio shows the relative sizes of two or more values.
- 9. An equation that states that two ratios are equivalent. It can be written in the form a/b = c/d, where "b" and "d" are not zero.
- 11. An equation says that two things are equal.
- 12. A drawing that shows a real object with accurate sizes reduced or enlarged by a certain amount (called the scale).
- 13. The percent the absolute error is of the actual value. {x-a/a x 100)% where "a" is the actual value of the quantity and "x" is the approximate value of the quantity.
- 14. The constant value (often written k) relating amounts that rise or fall uniformly together.
- 15. Income minus all expenses.
- 16. The value of a scale when the units are the same.
Down
- 1. It doesn't matter how we group the numbers when we multiply
- 2. Given the actual value, "a", of a quantity and an approximate value, "x", of the quantity, the absolute error is |x-a|.
- 3. How far a number is from zero.
- 4. When quantities have the same relative size. In other words they have the same ratio.
- 5. Parts per 100. The symbol is %
- 7. How much of something per 1 unit of something else.
- 8. A view into the inside of something made by cutting through it.
- 10. A comparison of two related quantities. Often the second quantity is time (per second, per hour, etc) but it can be anything. Can be in the style "this per that" or as a single number calculated using division.
