Principles of Design
Across
- 3. This is the part of the design that catches the viewer's attention. Usually this will stand out by contrasting with other areas. It could be different in size, color, texture, shape, etc.
- 5. the repeating of an object or symbol all over a work of art.
- 6. This is the path the viewer's eye takes through the work of art, often to focal areas. This can be directed along lines, edges, shape, and color within the work of art.
- 8. This works with pattern to make the work of art seem active. It is when you repeat an element over and over.
- 9. This is created when one or more elements are used repeatedly to create a feeling of organized movement. It can create mood like music or dancing. Using variety helps to keep this exciting.
Down
- 1. How all elements of an art piece relate to one another (size, amounts, number). An example is how the size of the head compares to the size of the body.
- 2. This is the distribution of visual weight of objects, color, texture, and space. It has to do with how even or uneven the piece "feels".
- 4. a feeling of harmony between all parts of the work of art - this creates a sense of completeness
- 7. The use of several elements in an art piece to hold the viewer's attention and guide the eye through and around the work of art.
