  1. 3. Using your head to hit or pass the ball, usually when it’s in the air.
  2. 6. Time (or Overtime) Extra minutes added at the end of a tied game (in knockout rounds) to try to find a winner before a penalty shootout.
  3. 7. Trying to take the ball away from another player. It’s okay if it’s done fairly and without fouling.
  4. 8. The player who protects the goal. They’re the only one allowed to use their hands—but only inside the penalty area.
  5. 9. Card A warning from the referee for bad behavior or repeated fouls. Two yellow cards in one game = red card.

  1. 1. Card Serious foul or dangerous behavior. A red card means the player is sent off and can’t play the rest of the game.
  2. 2. Kick A kick awarded after a foul. The team that was fouled gets to kick the ball from where the foul happened.

  4. 5. Kick A free kick from the corner of the field, awarded to the attacking team when the defending team kicks the ball out over their own goal line.

  6. 10. When a player breaks the rules by doing something unfair or dangerous, like kicking, pushing, or tripping another player.
