The Tissues
Across
- 4. Contains fibrocytes, which are cells that produce fibres, such as elastin and collagen. It forms tendons and ligaments and supports the internal organs.
- 5. They form muscles and can contract. They are of three types: cardiac, smooth and skeletal.
- 7. Composed of neurons, also called nerve cells, and neuroglial cells.
- 8. Contains chondrocytes, which are cells that secrete a flexible, elastic matrix. It provides support and protection.
Down
- 1. Formed by adipocytes, cells that store fat and serve as an energy reserve to provide protection.
- 2. Composed of osteocytes, which are cells that produce a very hard extracellular matrix made up of mineral salts.
- 3. Composed of cells joined by an intercellular substance, which is generally rich in protein fibre.
- 6. Made up of layers of tightly packed cells. It covers the surface of the body, cavities and tubes.
