  1. 2. The person who writes the storyline.
  2. 8. They do any extra research to help the actors, directors, and designers do their jobs better. They find out important information such as the styles and culture of a time period and anything else to help build the world of the play.
  3. 9. They make all of the light cues and/or sound cues go at the correct time.
  4. 10. They are the people who play the music for the entire musical. They are led by their Conductor.
  5. 11. They set up the design and production elements backstage for the actors. They set up the props, move the set. They help repair any props or set pieces that are worn out. They can also take on the duties of the Board Operators and/or Wardrobe Crew.
  6. 14. They make sure the audience is well-behaved and comfortable. They are in charge of the Ushers who help audience members find their seats. They help take tickets, make sure everyone has a program, and they let the Stage Manager know that they can start the performance.
  7. 16. They spread the word about the musical. They book talk show interviews, TV commercials, and promote the theatre. They create posters and programs for the production.
  8. 17. They gather together all of the people who need to work on the play. They pick the show and hire the Directors and Administrative roles (ie Marketing / Publicity). They may help the Director hire the Designers, Run Crew, and Actors.
  9. 18. They choose and create the costumes for each character. They may design the Hair and Makeup.

  1. 1. They create the setting and mood of the play by using light effects. They make sure all of the appropriate action can be seen.
  2. 3. They write the original music for the musical. This includes all of the vocal parts and parts for the pit orchestra.
  3. 4. They are in charge of conducting and teaching all of the musicians and singers the music for the musical.
  4. 5. They create the scenery, furniture, and sometimes props that go into the play/musical.
  5. 6. They create and add any sound effects that are needed. They make sure that the sounds (Actors’ voices, sound effects) can be heard throughout the performance space.
  6. 7. They are responsible for making sure that the costumes are set up and ready for the actors. They help with Quick Changes, wash and launder the costumes, and they repair clothes that are worn out. They may help with Hair and Makeup.
  7. 10. They choose and create the props, or smaller items, that the actors use on stage.
  8. 12. They are in charge of everything that is involved when creating a musical or play. This includes: researching, casting, rehearsing, staging, collaborating with designers and the production team, and managing the time and budget.
  9. 13. The person who arranges all of the dances and movements.
  10. 15. During the rehearsal period they are an assistant to the Director, and a liaison between the Director and the Designers. During the performance they are in charge, making sure all Actors, Musicians, and Crew Members are doing their jobs.
