- 10. Causes of the Civil War: The nation was divided on whether slavery should be allowed or not. The North wanted slavery to be illegal, the South wanted slavery to be legal.
- 11. Sumter Lincoln is sending unarmed troops to resupply Fort Sumter and says they will not fire unless fired upon. Before they reach the fort, Confederate troops attack and eventually overtake the fort, forcing the US to surrender it to the Confederates. Official start of the Civil War
