- 1. Treat all metal as if it is hot. Test to see if a piece is hot by holding the back of your hand a few inches away.
- 3. Always wear natural fiber clothing and leather shoes. Your pants must cover your shoe opening.
- 4. Welding tanks are under a lot of pressure. Students are not allowed to move tanks or welders without assistance from the instructor.
- 7. Do not weld on painted or coated metals like galvanized pipe.
- 9. Always wear proper P.P.E. including: Safety glasses, welding gloves, welding jacket and shield.
- 10. Inspect all equipment and P.P.E. before welding. Do not weld with damaged equipment or P.P.E.
- 11. Do not weld on containers. They could blow up.

- 2. Make sure your welding area is clean, dry and free of flammable contents.
- 3. Remove all jewelry and flammable contents from your pockets before welding.
- 5. Ask your instructor if you are unsure.
- 6. Always weld in a well ventilated area. Keep your head out of the plume.
- 8. Use welding pliers to pick up hot metal.
