Basketball Terms

3. Pass : a pass that is intentionally rebounded off the floor before reaching the receiver.
6. pads : controls the ball while dribbling
8. : offensive action of a player penetrating the defense to score or pass
10. : piece of equipment that hold the rim
11. : small rectangle located on the outside of the key
13. players : refers to 2 guards (point & shooting guards)
15. : rectangular area under the basket & up to the free throw line.
17. ball : 2 players simultaneously having a firm possession of the ball

21. guard : offense & controlling the tempo of the game
23. : a continued dribble after a player places their hand underneath the ball

7. : using 1 hand to repeatedly bounce the basketball
9. : a close-range shot taken when attacking the basket.
12. : offensive foul that's called when an offensive player runs into a defender who has established position
14. : when a player passes to another and results in them scoring
16. : change of possession when the team advances quickly
18. : team without possession of the ball
20. : 2 of the 3 players that do not hand the ball
21. guard : guard is usually tasked w/ dribbling the basketball up the court, initiating the
22. shot : shot taken by jumping up in the air & releasing the basketball at the peak of the
23. : quick sprint that involves changing directions made in an attempt to get open
24. : the line separating the playing area 4ft behind the backboard
25. pass : 2-handed pass made from above the head of an offensive player
27. : when a stationary player has possession of the basketball, they’re allowed to move 1
28. throw : uncontested shot 15ft directly in front of the basket
