  1. 2. Have you not brought this on yourselves by forsaking the Lord your God when he led you in the way?
  2. 5. Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding
  3. 6. how long will you wander, unfaithful daughter Israel? the Lord will create a new thing on earth-- the woman will return to the man.
  4. 10. 'call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.'
  5. 12. I brought you into a fertile land to eat its fruit and rich produce. But you came and defiled my land and made my inheritance detestable
  6. 14. the Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness"
  7. 17. the heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure.
  8. 18. this is what the Lord says: "restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded," declares the Lord
  9. 19. Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, "I have put my words in your mouth."

  1. 1. The Lord said to me, "You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled."
  2. 3. this is what the Lord says: "Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches
  3. 4. for I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
  4. 7. Hear the word of the Lord, you descendants of Jacob, all you clans of Israel.
  5. 8. I will pronounce my judgments on my people because of their wickedness in forsaking me, in burning incense to other gods and in worshiping what their hands have made.
  6. 9. 'nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security
  7. 10. "before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."
  8. 11. "Return, faithless Israel," declares the Lord, "I will frown on you no longer, for I am faithful," declares the Lord, "I will not be angry forever."
  9. 13. I will build you up again, and you, virgin Israel, will be rebuilt. again you will take up your timbrels and go out to dance with the joyful.
  10. 15. in that day, declares the Lord almighty, I will break the yoke off their necks and will tear off their bonds; no longer will foreigners enslave them
  11. 16. They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you", declares the Lord.
