Across
  1. 5. Type of abnormal gait with unilateral weakness, arm flexed, adducted and internally rotated. Affected leg is in extension with plantar flexion of the foot/ankle. Little to no arm swing on affected side and moves affected leg using circumduction during ambulation. Most commonly seen in stroke.
  2. 6. Type of abnormal gait that presents with widened base, unsteadiness and irregularity of steps, and lateral veering.
  3. 7. Phase of gait when the hip is flexed, knee is flexed then goes to extension, and the foot/ankle is in neutral.
  4. 9. Type of abnormal gait that can present as freezing of gait, shuffling gait, and festinating gait.
  5. 11. Type of abnormal gait that involves excessive up-down motion of the pelvis while walking due to weak gluteus medius and/or minimus.
  6. 13. Type of abnormal gait that presents with bilateral spasticity in lower extremities worse than upper extremities. Ambulates with an abnormally narrow base, dragging both legs and scraping the toes. This gait is seen in cerebral palsy.
  7. 14. Type of abnormal gait when the knees and thighs press together or crossing each other while walking. It’s caused by high muscle tone (spasticity) in the hip adductors.
  8. 15. Type of abnormal gait when a person tries to put minimal weight on the leg and shortens stance phase while walking and/or running.
  9. 17. Type of abnormal gait with excessive flexion of the hip and knee on affected sided when ambulating to allow for foot clearance with drop foot.
  10. 18. Phase of gait when the hip and knee are flexed and the foot/ankle are in plantar flexion.
Down
  1. 1. Phase of gait when the hip is flexed, knee is extended, and foot/ankle in neutral.
  2. 2. Type of abnormal gait that presents with excessive ankle dorsiflexion and excessive knee and hip flexion with ambulation. Most common gait pattern with CP.
  3. 3. Phase of gait when the hip is extended, the knees is flexed, and the foot/ankle is plantarflexed.
  4. 4. Type of abnormal gait when the trunk swings from side to side. Hips may also drop when ambulating. Causes pregnancy and various hip conditions.
  5. 8. Phase of gait when the hip & foot/ankle is in neutral and the knee is fully extended.
  6. 10. Type of abnormal gait when the upper body jerks forward or backward to due to weak gluteus maximus.
  7. 12. Phase of gait when the hip and knee are flexed and foot is in dorsiflexion.
  8. 16. Phase of gait when the hip and knee are extened and the foot/ankle is in plantarflexion
