Across
  1. 2. After the use of coal's dominance in the Industrial Revolution. This natural resource replaced coal as the primary natural resource to fuel industry and economic growth. It is still the largest indicator to economic growth at the moment.
  2. 3. An economical and time period in the United State that began due to speculation in wall street and its crash, high inflation, human panic (bank runs), and a drought that caused food prices to rise. This eventually spread across the globe. Because War is big business, WWII ended this dark time in US history. 25% unemployment rate as well.
  3. 6. This is United States imperialism on a global scale. The Philippines, Guam, and Cuba were all spoils of war. It is where Theodore Roosevelt gained his fame.
  4. 8. To end WWII, the US dropped the only two of these on humans. With just one, thousands upon thousands of people in Japan died. Then, because of this bomb, an arms(weapons) race began between Russia and United States. Odd, we doing this again?
  5. 10. A political policy by the United States to stay out of the Great War and World War Two. However, we were unable to stay out due to providing funds in the form of loans, and weapons, and finally, we declared war in favor of the Allies.
  6. 11. One of the World Wide Global conflicts. The US was officially engaged in it following Japan bombing us in Hawaii on December 7, 1941.
  7. 12. To end WWII, the US dropped the only two of these on humans. With just one thousands upon thousands of people in Japan died.
  8. 13. The Unites States held the Philippines and Guam hindering Japan's imperialistic ideas. The Unites States also stopped selling oil to Japan, also hindering Japan's imperialistic ideas. In a preemptive attack, Japan bombed the US' largest naval fleet on the west coast here. This led to the US getting involved in WWII.
  9. 14. The Great Depression increased the overall poorest level of living in the United States. Look up Hoover towns.
Down
  1. 1. The Unites States was involved in the nearly global conflict of the 19-teens. This war directly led to WWII. The US was selling ammo and guns, had the Lusitania and a few other ships sunk, and we joined this war.
  2. 4. Due to poor farming and environmental practices coupled with a drought, caused this agricultural crisis. The dirt literally filled the sky in storms that went from the US west all the way to New York. This helped fuel the Great Depression by driving food prices higher and making farmers lose their farms.
  3. 5. US President during the Great Depression and WWII. He served 4 terms and died in office. After he died, Congress made 2 terms the maximum limit for a President (Putin removed this in Russia BTW).
  4. 7. A time in the US history with semi-economical prosperity. There was lots of oil money, speculation in Wall Street, and a rise in organized crime to to prohibition. Women gained more cultural freedom and early on the right to vote.
  5. 9. Social Program during the US Great Depression led by President Franklin Roosevelt. The idea was to have government spending on things such as the Blue Ridge Parkway, the TVA (Watauga Lake), etc to allow people to have jobs and help ease the economic crisis
