- 1. Drive- A non-volatile storage device that stores data on rapidly rotating rigid (i.e. hard) platters with magnetic surfaces.
- 4. A pointing device that functions by detecting two-dimensional motion relative to its supporting surface; motion is usually mapped to a cursor in screen space; typically used to control a graphical user interface on a desktop computer or for CAD etc.
- 5. Video Graphics Array - the last graphical standard introduced by IBM to which the majority of PC clone manufacturers conformed.
- 9. The central printed circuit board (PCB) in many modern computers which holds many of the crucial components of the system, while providing connectors for other peripherals.
- 10. Central processing unit - the portion of a computer system that executes the instructions of a computer program.

- 2. Random-access memory - a form of computer data storage that allows data items to be accessed (read or written) in almost the same amount of time irrespective of the physical location of data inside the memory. RAM contains multiplexing and demultiplexing circuitry to connect the data lines to the addressed storage for reading or writing the entry. Usually more than one bit of storage is accessed by the same address, and RAM devices often have multiple data lines and are said to be '8-bit' or '16-bit' etc. devices. In today's technology, random-access memory takes the form of integrated circuits.
- 3. A collection of computers and other devices connected by communications channels, e.g. by ethernet or wireless networking
- 6. Card- A printed circuit board that can be inserted into an electrical connector, or expansion slot on a computer motherboard, backplane or riser card to add functionality to a computer system via the expansion bus. An expansion bus is a computer bus which moves information between the internal hardware of a computer system (including the CPU and RAM) and peripheral devices. It is a collection of wires and protocols that allows for the expansion of a computer.
- 7. Card- Also referred to as a graphics card and several other names, a video card is an expansion card which generates a feed of output images to a display (such as a computer monitor).
- 8. (Or chip set) - a group of integrated circuits, or chips, that are designed to work together. They are usually marketed as a single product.
