Across
  1. 2. I am in charge of decorating the set, including the furnishings and all the other objects that will be seen in the film. I pretty much go shopping!
  2. 6. I am in charge of operating the camera dolly. I place, level, and move the dolly track, then push and pull the dolly, with usually a camera operator riding and a camera assistant helping out. My job falls under that "department of hands”.
  3. 7. I work closely with the Director and Producer to understand the story requirements, suggest actors for each role, as well as arranging and conducting interviews and auditions.
  4. 11. I work only on TV shows and I am responsible for managing the overall story across episodes. In reality TV, I am responsible for creating a story line via editing/producing the show's source footage. I work closely with the TV screenwriters and at times may write a thing or two (like the opening words the host says).
  5. 13. I am responsible for overseeing the creative aspects of a film. I control the content and flow of the film's plot, I coach the performances of actors, I select the locations in which the film will be shot, and I manage technical details such as the positioning of cameras, the use of lighting, and the timing and content of the film's soundtrack. I am the boss of the creative side of the film and if I’m also Producer... I’m the Big Boss.
  6. 14. I keep track of what parts of the script have been filmed and make notes of any changes between what was actually filmed and what appeared in the script. I make notes on every shot, and keep track of props, blocking, and other details to ensure CONTINUITY from shot to shot and scene to scene.
  7. 16. I am responsible for keeping the camera operator in focus while it is shooting. I also make sure the camera operator and the camera don’t bump into things and if need be I physically guide them through the shot.
  8. 20. I operate a motion control camera rig. Basically I use a remote to control a 'camera robot' that can consistently repeat camera moves for special effects use. In sports (especially football) I work the zipline camera going above the field.
  9. 21. I am in charge of finding and managing all the props used in the film.
Down
  1. 1. I am responsible for finding and securing locations to be used for the production and coordinating the logistics, permits and costs involved. I am also the face of the production to the community .
  2. 3. I help the assistant directors with on-set operations. I also assist in the production office with general tasks. In the film industry, my job is a good starting job to have and I’m known as a ‘P.A.’
  3. 4. I am visual effects artist responsible for compositing images from different sources such as video, film, computer generated 3-D imagery, 2-D animations, matte paintings and text. I pretty much add all the explosions and fire and cool special effects in post-production.
  4. 5. I create and record many of the sound effects for a film if we don’t have a copy of it on file already.
  5. 8. I help the camera crew with menial details while learning the trade of the camera assistants, operators and cinematographers. I am a great starting job for the camera crew of the film industry.
  6. 9. I am the head of the camera and lighting department. I work with the Director and the Costume department to make decisions on the lighting and camera framing of scenes.
  7. 10. I am responsible for microphone placement and movement during filming. I use a long pole to position the microphone above or below the actors, just out of the camera's frame.
  8. 12. I am a lighting and electricity technician. I am head of the electrical department, responsible for the design and execution of the electrical lighting plan for a production. I am easier known as "Chief Lighting Technician", but some call me a title name that starts with the letter ‘G’.
  9. 15. I am a lighting and rigging technician. I am the head of the set operations department. I work with the head of the camera crew to help set up the set and to achieve correct lighting and blocking. The call me and my department something else though (think ‘hands’.)
  10. 17. I am an architect and/or a draftsman. I draw up, model out, and design the real structures and/or interior spaces called for by the Production Designer.
  11. 18. I am responsible for playing the characters and action in front of the camera. I am expected to memorize the lines, commit to the emotional and physical reality of the character I am portraying, be creative in my playing choices, listen to and take direction, and be a good teammate. I get almost all of the fame and you see me on the red carpet all the time.
  12. 19. I am the main investor in the project or am part of the main group of investors who has given the funding of the movie project. I or we are the money people.
