- 12. Using descriptive words (adjectives) to describe something and paint a picture in your head. He had short deep black hair, with bright blue eyes, and was a tall, skinny boy.

- 1. A describing word. Sometimes there are three together to make it more effective. He had to wear a big, bright blue plaster in cooking.
- 2. This is a word that imitates or suggests the source of the sound that it describes. There was a bee buzzing around the flowers.
- 3. This is when something is said to be something else. Juliet is the sun.
- 6. When something non-human or even something that is not alive; is doing something only humans can do. I could hear my bed calling my name.
- 8. This includes informal (or casual) words that are made up and used by cultural groups. In Australia they say g’day mate for good morning and barbie for barbeque.
- 10. Language This is when adjectives or adverbs are used that relate to or refer to emotions. There is an endless trauma, desperation and mindless suffering from doing school work.
