- 2. I received my BS in Zoology and my MS in Zoology with a concentration in Physiology from North Carolina State University. I love the discipline and creativity of science and particularly enjoys labs and incorporating current events and research into her lessons. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy reading, gardening, canoeing, and spending time with my family.
- 4. I have been teaching in the private school sector for 21 years; this is my 3rd year at Davidson Day School. I teach all levels of P.E. and Health to Middle and Upper School. I also serves as the Middle School Boys soccer coach and assists with the Girls Basketball program. Outside of school, I am a volunteer assistant softball coach at Winthrop University, directs tournaments for NC-NSA and enjoys spending time with my family and friends.
- 5. I was born and raised in China, and came to the U.S. about 10 years ago. I graduated from UNCC in 2013 with a Bachelor's degree in English. I taught English to students of all ages for a year in a foreign language school in Changsha, China, while pursuing my undergraduate study. I just finished her first year of Mandarin teaching at DDS.
- 9. I received my Bachelor's of Architecture degree from Kansas State University and my Master's of Fine Arts degree from Florida Atlantic University. I have taught Middle and Upper School art at Davidson Day School since 2010. I have served as the Yearbook Advisor since 2012. Prior to teaching at DDS, I operated my own architectural illustration business for ten years, and I continue to provide custom watercolor illustrations of commercial and residential buildings to local architects and clients.
- 12. I have spent the last fourteen years researching both terrestrial and cave sites in Western Belize, having spent the last eight years with Dr. Jaime Awe at the Classic Maya site of Cahal Pech. I have also carried out research at the medieval site of Zorita de los Canes in Central Spain, the Pre-Columbian site of Dunks Hammock in Northeast Florida, and various other phase one sites in the states of Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Iowa, and Indiana.
- 13. This teacher graduated from UNC Charlotte with a degree in Psychology. She enjoys attending her students' sports games and theater productions. Outside of school, this teacher enjoys taking aerial silks classes, hiking, camping, kayaking, riding bikes, and visiting the National White Water Center.
- 14. This teacher taught at Mooresville High School for 4 years, before switching to Charlotte Country Day School and earned his Master’s in Education and completed his Ph.D. coursework. He then took a year off from full time teaching to work as a research assistant in the Department of STEM Education at UNCC and complete his dissertation which focused on teacher beliefs and professional development in mathematics education. He then began teaching at Davidson Day School in 2010 and completed his Ph.D. in 2011.

- 1. I was born in Scotland but grew up in The Bahamas. I attended university in Canada where I earned an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from the University of Toronto. During my university years, I was fortunate enough to spend a year in Granada, Spain where I was completely immersed in the language, the people and the culture.
- 3. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of North Florida. I also play regularly for touring Broadway shows, and is the director of contemporary worship at Providence Baptist Church. I am the artistic director for both the Columbia Museum of Art (SC) “Jazz on Main” concert series and the 6th & North Tryon Wednesday Jazz Series and the music director for the Lake Norman Big Band.
- 6. I have been a high school English teacher for twelve years. I majored in English at the University of Richmond, with a concentration in medieval and renaissance literature. I also have master’s degrees in medieval studies, teaching, and creative writing. In my spare time, I read, write, run, and hang out with my dog.
- 7. I received both my Bachelor of Music in Clarinet Performance and my Master of Arts in Music Education from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. I have been teaching Band for 11 years and is beginning my 4th year at Davidson Day. I am passionate about starting kids on a musical instrument at an early age and helping develop a love and appreciation of music throughout their grade school years
- 8. I received a Bachelor's degree from Michigan State University, in Biological Science and Chemistry. I have taught just about every science course--those in the life or the physical sciences--with Chemistry being my favorite. Outside of school, I am an avid runner, completing 7 marathons, and love spending time with my wife, watching my two sons play soccer.
- 10. I have been teaching high school mathematics in the independent schools for 40 years. Outside of school, I have served as President of the New England Prep School Track and Cross Country Coaches Association and was elected the president of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics in Massachusetts. In 2005, I was chosen to be holder of the Waldo H. and Ruth W. Holcombe Chair for Excellence in Teaching. My passions include astronomy/cosmology, meteorology/climatology, chocolate, long-distance running, cross-country skiing, bicycling, gardening, and Native American history and culture.
- 11. I grew up in the Carolinas, graduating with an English degree from Furman University and obtaining Masters degrees in Health Education and Teaching from UNC Charlotte. I served as the Head Coach for UNC Charlotte’s Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field teams for 20 years before stepping down in 2001.
- 13. This teacher has been a photojournalist for over 25 years. She has climbed the cables to the top of the Brooklyn Bridge, stood on the crown of the Statue of Liberty, and photographed Presidents, Mother Teresa, the Rolling Stones, CEO’s, hurricanes and many of the wonders of our world.
