  1. 1. The equation of a straight line in the form y = mx + b where m is the slope of the line and b is its y-intercept. A way of writing the equation of a line so that the slope of the line and the y-intercept are easily identifiable.
  2. 3. A form of writing a given mathematical concept like an equation, number, or an expression in a form that follows certain rules. Representing very large or very small numbers concisely.
  3. 6. A type of transformation that takes each point in a figure and rotates it a certain number of degrees around a given point. It stays the same shape and size, but the figures may be turned in different directions.
  4. 9. A set of numbers arranged in rows and columns so as to form a rectangular array. The numbers are called the elements, or entries.
  5. 11. Flipping an object about a line without changing its size or shape. It may occur in a point, a line, or a plane.
  6. 12. Numbers that are a set of whole numbers and can be used for counting and ordering. It does not include 0 and fractional numbers.
  7. 15. A symbol written above and to the right of a mathematical expression to indicate the operation of raising to a power. Also known as the power of a number.
  8. 17. Algebraic expression that gives the distances between pairs of points in terms of their coordinates. These points can be in any dimension.
  9. 20. A term used in geometry to describe a function that moves an object a certain distance. The object is not altered in any other way. It is not rotated, reflected or re-sized.
Down
  1. 1. A strategy for solving systems of equations that include solving for one variable and using that solution to find the other variable. it involves finding the value of x-variable in terms of y-variable and then substituting or replacing the value of x-variable in the second equation
  2. 2. The measure of the steepness and the direction of the line. Finding the slope of lines in a coordinate plane can help in predicting whether the lines are parallel, perpendicular, or none without actually using a compass.
  3. 4. It helps divide something or give a share or part of something. It is a property of multiplication used in addition and subtraction.
  4. 5. A general term for four specific ways to manipulate the shape and/or position of a point, a line, or geometric figure. The original shape of the object is called the pre-Image and the final shape.
  5. 7. It is the longest side of a right triangle. It's also the side opposite the right angle.
  6. 8. A set of numbers that include natural numbers and 0. Negative and fractional numbers are not included.
  7. 10. The sum of the squared sides of a right triangle equals the length of the hypotenuse squared. If you know the length of any 2 sides of a right triangle you can use it to find the length of the third side.
  8. 13. Whole numbers that can be positive, negative or zero. They can’t be a fractional number.
  9. 14. It is a number that can be expressed as the quotient or fraction p/q of two integers, a numerator p and a non-zero denominator q. It can be made by dividing an integer with an integer.
  10. 16. It is a real number that cannot be represented as a simple fraction. These cannot be expressed in the form of a ratio, such as p/q, where p and q are integers.
  11. 18. It uses two or more numbers to compare. It indicates how many times one number contains another.
  12. 19. Represented as a numerical value, which defines a part of a whole. It can be a portion or section of any quantity out of a whole, where the whole can be any number, a specific value, or a thing.
