2. Nations An international organization formed in 1945 to promote peace and security in the world.
4. A social movement for Jewish people to form an independent Nation in Israel.
6. Gulf A shallow inlet of water off of the the Indian Ocean, Sandwiched between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
7. An enslaved country.
10. Canal A man-maid inlet of the Indian ocean, lying between Africa and Asia. This canal provided a shortcut from Europe to Asia.
12. To fight for the freedom and liberty of a country. To believe in your country's freedom and independence.
14. System The mandates gave Britain/France the power to govern the newly formed countries of the Middle East under the League of Nations.

1. Ocean The third largest ocean in the world. It connects to Africa, Asia and Australia.
3. To Indirectly control a country through economic or political means.
5. To divide/separate a country, territory, or resource.
8. Sea The sea is connected to the Atlantic Ocean, is surrounded Southern Europe and North Africa on the South. It is almost entirely surrounded by land.
9. Sea An inlet of the Indian ocean lying between Africa and Asia.
10. Accord An agreement between France and Britain in 1916 which divided the territory of the Ottoman Empire into distinctive countries. These countries were controlled by either Britain or France under the Mandate System.
11. Empire The territory of the modern day Middle East was once controlled by the Ottomans.
13. Nationalism An ideology that promotes Arab unity and urges them to join forces and form their own state.
