- 2. This rocky red 3-DOWN is fourth from the 13-ACROSS, and like the Milky 7-ACROSS and 1-DOWN, is also the name of a chocolate bar! (4)
- 4. These twinkle in the sky at night... but did you know that the 13-ACROSS is also one, just really close up? (4)
- 5. 8-DOWN ????, a rocky part of the solar system in between the orbits of 2-ACROSS and 15-ACROSS!
- 7. Milky ???, the name of our 1-DOWN... or of a chocolate bar with nougat inside? (3)
- 11. This is what an astronomer peeps through to look at space close-up! (9)
- 12. You'll find this in a thermometer, Freddie from Queen... and also the closest 3-DOWN to the 13-ACROSS! (7)
- 13. Our nearest 4-ACROSS, which lights up our sky during the day and gives us heat, light and life (3)
- 14. This can either be a white, fluffy mass of water vapour in the sky (with a silver lining?), or a description of a distant 1-DOWN or space object (5)
- 15. The biggest 3-DOWN in the solar system, a gas giant named for the Roman King of the Gods (7)
- 17. This is a blazing rock falling from space, particularly as it enters the Earth's atmosphere (6)
Down
- 1. This is a collection of billions of 4-ACROSSs in space, bound together by gravity... it's also a very yummy chocolate bar! (6)
- 3. There are eight of these massive, round objects in our solar system, some rocky, others gaseous; six of them have 10-DOWNs and all eight of them all orbit the 13-ACROSS (6)
- 6. The second-biggest 3-DOWN in the solar system, noted for its beautiful system of rings (6)
- 8. This is a small rock that orbits the 13-ACROSS, and lots of them are found in between the orbits of 2-ACROSS and 15-ACROSS (8)
- 9. Ms Williams, the tennis player, or the Greek goddess of love? Both, actually... but it's also the second 3-DOWN from the 13-ACROSS, and sometime's called Earth's "twin" (5)
- 10. New, crescent, half, gibbous or full? This is Earth's only natural satellite, which humans first reached - and walked on - in 1969 (4)
- 14. Halley's ????? - this is a traveller through space which orbits in periods and has an icy body and a tail which forms as it get close to the 13-ACROSS (5)
- 16. This could be either Mickey Mouse's dog, or a tiny, icy dwarf-3-DOWN on the outer parts of the solar system. (5)
