Types of Metals

2. Usually the final stage of finishing a protect. Added to give added protection and to give the product a more appealing appearance.
3. Malleable , ductile and tough. A good conductor of electricity and heat.
4. An alloy that is gold in colour. Heavy and quite hard. Sometimes used to make instruments and boat fittings.
6. A natural material from which metal can be extracted .
8. Hard and tough but very good resistance to corrosion. Used to make cutlery and sinks.
10. A ferrous metal that cannot be bent and is strong under compression. Used to make vices and heavy machinery.
12. A precious metal that can be shaped easily due to its malleable and ductile properties.

1. A ferrous metal that is tough , ductile and malleable. Used to make car bodies and building frames.
3. Can be prevented by adding a protective coating such as paint, oil , lacquering and dip coating .
5. A metal with a very low melting point. It can be shaped easily and is suitable for casting .
7. Metals that contain iron such as mild steel and cast-iron. A disadvantage of many of these metals is that they rust.
9. A non ferrous metal that 3 times lighter than mild steel.
11. A mixture of two of more metals .
