  1. 1. Origin - External occipital protuberance and superior nuchal line of occipital bone, nuchal ligament, spinous process of C7 vertebra.
  2. 3. Insertion - Crest of the greater tubercle of humerus.
  3. 6. MMT Test - elbow flexion slightly less than or at a right angle, with the forearm in neutral
  4. 7. MMT Test - EXT of the inner phalangeal joint of the thumb
  5. 11. Origin - Anterior ends of third to fifth ribs.
  6. 13. Action - Adducts and flexes arm at glenohumeral (shoulder) joint.
  7. 14. Action - Supinates forearm at radioulnar joints.
  8. 16. MMT Test - elbow flexion slightly less than or at a right angle, with the forearm in supination
  9. 17. Action - Abducts, flexes, extends, and medially and laterally rotates arm at glenohumeral (shoulder) joint.

  1. 2. Origin - Medial side, anterior surface of the distal 1/4 of the ulna
  2. 4. MMT Test - patient shoulder flexed to 90° punching up into the air
  3. 5. MMT Test - ADD of the thumb toward the palm
  4. 8. Origin - Transverse processes of C1-C2 vertebrae, posterior tubercles of transverse processes of C3-C4 vertebrae.
  5. 9. MMT Test - “Chicken Wing”, arm on the small of their back, internal rotation of the shoulder with elbow flexion
  6. 10. MMT Test - extension of the wrist with radial deviation
  7. 12. MMT Test - shoulder and abduction and external rotation with the elbow in flexion
  8. 15. Insertion - Olecranon process of ulna and adjacent antebrachial fascia.
