Across
  1. 2. A fraction that also has a fraction on the top, bottom or both.
  2. 6. The ratio of the length in a drawing (or model) to the length on the real thing.
  3. 7. The horizontal value in a pair of coordinates: how far along the point is. The X Coordinate is always written first in an ordered pair of coordinates (x,y), such as (12,5).
  4. 10. The vertical value in a pair of coordinates. How far up or down the point is. The Y Coordinate is always written second in an ordered pair of coordinates (x,y) such as (12,5)
  5. 11. Fractions which have the same value, even though they may look different.
  6. 12. The starting point. Sometimes written as the capital letter O • On a number line it is 0, • On a two-dimensional graph it is where the X axis and Y axis cross
  7. 13. Rate How much of something per 1 unit of something else.
Down
  1. 1. Plane The plane formed by the "x" axis and "y"
  2. 3. A drawing that shows a real object with accurate sizes reduced or enlarged by a certain amount (called the scale).
  3. 4. The constant value (often written k) relating amounts that rise or fall uniformly together. It is the ratio of the amounts y and x: k = y/x Put another way: y = kx
  4. 5. When quantities have the same relative size. In other words they have the same ratio.
  5. 8. A ratio shows the relative sizes of two or more values.
  6. 9. Pair Two numbers written in a certain order. Usually written in parentheses like this: (12,5). Which can be used to show the position on a graph, where the x (horizontal) value is first, and the y (vertical) value is second.
