- 3. Using your head to hit or pass the ball, usually when it’s in the air.
- 6. Time (or Overtime) Extra minutes added at the end of a tied game (in knockout rounds) to try to find a winner before a penalty shootout.
- 7. Trying to take the ball away from another player. It’s okay if it’s done fairly and without fouling.
- 8. The player who protects the goal. They’re the only one allowed to use their hands—but only inside the penalty area.
- 9. Card A warning from the referee for bad behavior or repeated fouls. Two yellow cards in one game = red card.

- 1. Card Serious foul or dangerous behavior. A red card means the player is sent off and can’t play the rest of the game.
- 2. Kick A kick awarded after a foul. The team that was fouled gets to kick the ball from where the foul happened.
- 4. Moving the ball down the field by kicking it in short, controlled touches while running.
- 5. Kick A free kick from the corner of the field, awarded to the attacking team when the defending team kicks the ball out over their own goal line.
- 7. When the ball goes out on the side of the field, the other team gets to throw it back in—using both hands and keeping both feet on the ground.
- 10. When a player breaks the rules by doing something unfair or dangerous, like kicking, pushing, or tripping another player.
- 11. Kick A free shot at goal from 12 yards (11 meters) out, given when a foul happens inside the penalty box.
