Animal Farm Final Project Alyssa Riel 2023-02-19
Across
- A project that was Snowball’s idea to make the farm sustainable. The project took about a year to complete the first time until Snowball destroyed it as Napoleon said. Then it took about two years to rebuild the project but it ultimately made a profit in the end.
- A common theme in the book that Squealer uses to convince the other animals about ideas that Napoleon may have. An example of this is when Napoleon uses this to describe that Snowball destroyed the windmill when it really might have been the windy night.
- One of two pigs leaders on the farm. One of the smartest animals on the farm known for making the plans for the windmill. Well-spoken does most of the talking when he leads alongside Napoleon. Later on gets chased out of the farm by Napoleon’s dogs and never returns for the farm. Additionally, he gets blamed for the destruction of the windmill and has a reward put on him for any animal who finds him.
- The oldest and wisest pig on the farm who passes his knowledge of animalism and rebellion. During the speech he tells everyone how awful humans treat animals and how they should uprise and take charge of the farm. He also introduces the ideas of propaganda, animalism, and the song Beast of England during speech. Died three nights after his speech.
- An abusive owner that took care of the animals before getting chased out of the farm during the rebellion. Later comes back to the farm to take it back with men from Foxwood and Pinchfield farm but they didn’t have a chance so they ran. Went to another part of the country and was never seen again. Often used as a threat towards the animals from Squealer to convince Snowball or Napoleon’s ideas.
- A hard worker on the farm and very loyal to whoever is in charge of the farm. His main sayings are, “I will work hard” and “Napoleon is always right”. Usually a role-model for the rest of the animals. Worked until his lungs were not healthy and was taken to a Horse slaughterer and was dead after a few days. Squealer ended up making up a story about him that ultimately Squealer was beside him in his final moments. Also that he said before he died, “Napoleon is always right”.
- Rules and laws that were changed throughout the book based on what the pigs did. For example, when the pigs started to walk on two legs one law was changed to, “Four legs good, two legs better”.
- One of two pig leaders in the beginning who took over after Old Major had passed. Not well-spoken unlike Snowball. Often steals others ideas and takes credit for them. Not the best public speaker has Squealer convinced his ideas. Becomes a leader of the animal farm after Snowball had ran away.
- A song of rebellion that helped the animals express their true feelings of rebellion and helped them rebel against Mr. Jones. Later it was banned because Napoleon thought that the song was a rebellion song and there is no longer a rebellion.
- A owner of the farm named Foxwoods who mostly makes a mockery of the animals. Later on makes a speech to congratulate the animals for treating the animals badly and how they feed the animals worse than when Mr. Jones was there.
Down
- Does a lot of trading with Napoleon and is jealous of what Napoleon has and wants anything he gets his hands on.
- A pig who composes all the songs and poems for the farm. Writes the song Comrade Napoleon.
- The main theme of the book. It symbolizes what actions each character does to see if they are changing or conforming with whoever is in charge.
- One of the only ones to rebel against Napoleon’s orders and were forced to give up all their eggs. At least 9 of the hens died in the conflict when Napoleon’s dogs killed animals who were doing stuff against the seven commandments.
- A raven that is loyal to Mr. Jones who leaves with Mr. Jones after he was scared off the farm. Later comes back to describe Sugarcandy Mountain and how animals go there after they have passed.
- A motherly figure that had her children taken from her. Cares for almost all of the animals on the farm. Asked Mollie what was troubling her before Mollie had run away. When Boxer was not doing good she took care of him when he was sick. The first to realize that no matter what they do in life will never get better and that maybe humans aren’t as bad as they thought.
- A fight between Mr. Jones and his men against the animals. Snowball came up with the tactics against Mr. Jones but later Mr. Jones fires his gun Snowball is injured and some sheeps are dead. Snowball announced that everyone October 12th is the anniversary of this fight.
- Has a way to convince any animal about ideas. Loyal to Snowball in the beginning when Snowball and Napoleon were leading. Often is used as an assistance to convince the other animals of any idea Napoleon and Snowball have. Later became a main speaker after Napoleon came into power.
- A song that replaced the song Beast of England and was composed by Minimus. The song describes how faithful the animals were to Napoleon and it expressed the feelings that were on the farm.
- Originally Jessie and Bluebell’s kids but then they got taken from them so that Napoleon could teach them his ways of life and education. So as a result of this it made it so that they were a protection for Napoleon. Also they scared off Snowball and later on killed animals that admitted that they were doing human stuff.
